  • The first and most important step in building your custom home is to identify and confirm the homesite or lot where you want to build. The lot you choose will determine the type of home that can be constructed, including its size and width. Additionally, the characteristics of the lot will have a significant impact on your overall budget. To make an informed decision, it's recommended to drive around the neighborhood and explore different lots to see which one best fit your needs and preferences.

  • If you’re unfamiliar with Shuster Homes or what the company offers, visiting the model home any Sunday between 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM is an excellent way to get started. During your visit, you’ll have the opportunity to tour a Shuster Home and experience the quality features available in each house. You’ll also be able to meet face-to-face with a member of the sales team, ask any questions you may have, and take home the Imagination Guide, which contains a variety of floor plans to help you move closer to your dream home.

  • Yes, Shuster is willing to build a home on property you find yourself. However, it’s important to understand that building on private land can come with additional costs beyond your expectations. Many people assume that building on private property is less expensive than building in a Shuster RWS Development, but this is not always true. Hidden costs such as permit and tap-in fees, site work, utility connections, unforeseen dirt removal, and other expenses can arise during the process.

    Because Shuster builds many homes within its own developments, the company limits the number of private-lot builds each year.  To maintain quality control and build time efficiency, Shuster tries not to exceed 10 private-lot homes a year.   These private lots should be located near active, existing Shuster plans.  Property located near Shuster’s Warehouse is also acceptable.

  • You are welcome to come as you are—there’s no need to bring blueprints. The team will ask important questions to help clarify and reach your goals. You’ll have the opportunity to discuss your must-haves, and the team will provide a realistic overview of the build process and timeline. If you already have a floorplan in mind, you are encouraged to bring your ideas, as Shuster can incorporate them to make your vision a reality.
